March 2013 Bude Canal and Coast

Val & Colin Young led this walk as I stepped down as leader due to health problems. It was a spring like day a refreshing change from the awful wet weather we have had lately. After the walk we had a nice lunch, and some of the ladies went for a look round the shops. Jean Martin and I only did the canal stretch as we did not want to over stretch ourselves.

February walk 2013

I am afraid I caused big problems and concern on this walk. We started our walk from the national trust car park at Park Head. We didn't get off to a good start having to struggle through thick sticky mud. I'm afraid I behaved irresponsibly and got stuck in the mud and actually through having badly fitting wellingtons finished up losing them in the mud and falling over trying to recover them. The result of this caused me to have a fainting spell which caused concern for my friends and as I was taking time to recover the air ambulance was called for which transported me to the car park where an ambulance was waiting. However after a check over and treatment I was passed OK. Ten of the members completed the walk to Mawgan Porth where they met up with other members who had abandoned the walk and all enjoyed a nice lunch at the Merrymore Inn.

We started our walks again in January 2013 with a circular walk from the car park of the Coombe Barton  Inn at Crackington Haven. Over the Cambeak Headland, the Strangles, Trevigue Farm, and returned via the woods of Ludon Valley. We had a very nice lunch at the Coombe Barton Inn to finish off our very muddy walk in spite of this most members said they enjoyed it, although I am not sure if they were just being kind.
